On November 6th ISU-Core, a registered student organization for fans of alternative music, hosted Throwdown for a Cause at the Bowling and Billiards Center.

Some of the bands that played were Classic Schmosby, Paper Planes, Portals and many more.

All of the profits from the show went to the Dear Jack Foundation, an organization made to benefit young adults struggling with cancer.

“There was a great turn out!” said Normal West senior Brandon Cary of Classic Schmosby. “The Dear Jack Foundation is a great cause. I hope this becomes an annual event and I hope I will be able to play next year.”

Over $500 was raised for the Dear Jack Foundation and over 100 people came to the benefit show.

James McHenry president of ISU-Core and guitarist of Portals said, “This is one of the most fun times I’ve ever had playing a show and the crowd reacted very well to us. Shows with friends are always so much fun.”

Many people were drawn to show by being in the Bowling and Billiards Center that normally would not come out to a show.

Brianne Mazurek, a leader of ISU-Core said, “I’m glad that we got to use the Bowling and Billiards Center. It’s a great venue. It was very nice of ISU to let us use it and I hope we have more opportunities to do shows like this again.”
