In 1980, President Jimmy Carter designated the month of March as National Women’s History Month.  He declared,“Too often, the women were unsung and sometimes their contributions went unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership, courage, strength, and love of the women who built America was as vital as that of the men whose names we know so well.”

Women’s History Month is an annual event that highlights women, their events in history, their role in society, and how they became strong and independent though the years. International Women’s Day is on March 8.

Locally, the IMC is honoring women through a variety of activities throughout the month. Some of our female Wildcats spoke about the importance of this day.

“I’m proud to be a woman,” said Mrs. Nichols. “We have a remarkable sense of motherhood and caring that men will never understand. Woman had to suffer so much for their rights, I think it’s really important to have a month honored for woman.”

“I’m very proud to be a woman. Michelle Obama showed us how strong and independent woman can be, and how far you can get in the future even if you are a woman,” said senior Lexia Aranda.
